Traverse City — Traverse City Area Public Schools' Early Childhood Program is holding its second Preschool Scholarship Raffle fundraiser.
TCAPS preschool families and staff are selling $10 raffle tickets starting today, Jan. 7, and continuing through Saturday, Feb. 9. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.

Traverse City — The Builders Exchange of NW MI's Lunchbox Series will offer "Blueprint Reading Basics" Wednesday, Jan. 9.
The program will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Builders Exchange, 1373 Barlow St. Northwestern Michigan College adjunct instructor Devin Hill will share information on reading commercial blueprints and answer questions. A light lunch will be provided.

Family Science Day
Suttons Bay — "Paddle to the Sea" is the theme for the Saturday, Jan. 12, Family Science Day hosted by the Inland Seas Education Association.
Children ages 5 to 12 can listen to stories, participate in science activities and build a model canoe from 10 a.m. to noon at ISEA's Education Center. The cost is $5 per child.

Book club for guys
Traverse City — Guys in grades three through seven are invited to the Monday, Jan. 14, meeting of the "Guys Read Too" book club at the Peninsula Community Library.
The group will meet at 4:15 p.m. at the library, 2699 Island View Road, to discuss Grace Lin's "Year of the Rat." There is no charge and books may be checked out on a first come, first served basis.

Traverse City — Bethany Christian Services holds information sessions and training on the new Safe Families for Children program on the second Monday of each month.
