Program on energy
Suttons Bay — The Leelanau unit of the League of Women Voters GTA will host a presentation by Skip Pruss, former Director of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth in the Gov. Granholm administration.
Pruss will discuss the non-partisan Michigan Clean Renewable Electric Energy Standard Proposal at noon Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center Dr. The public is welcome.
Help kids be unique
Traverse City — Central United Methodist Church will sponsor the "Kid Unique" program, designed to equip adults to help children recognize the best in themselves.

Talk on ballot issues
Frankfort — Reservations are due Thursday, Oct. 4, for the next educational luncheon meeting of the Republican Women of Benzie County. Statewide ballot issues will be the focus.
The open-to-the-public luncheon will start at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the Betsie Bay Inn on Main Street. Doug DeYoung, vice president of government relations and business advocacy for the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance, will be the guest speaker. The $13 lunch fee will be taken at the door. History group meets
Traverse City — Ted Bagley, Laura Johnson and Ann Swaney will talk about the history of the old dock at Old Mission at the Thursday, Oct. 4, meeting of the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society.
