Empire — The Empire United Methodist Church women will hold a "Spaghetti Bolognese" dinner Saturday, Sept. 29.
The meal will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 10050 Michigan St. The cost is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 11 and younger. Proceeds go toward United Methodist Women mission projects.

Traverse City — Grand Traverse County Probate Court will hold pre-service orientation for anyone interested in becoming Volunteers in Prevention/Probate.
Potential volunteers will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, to learn what the Probate and Family Court does and to find out about opportunities to volunteer in prevention, probation and guardianship. Those who wish to become volunteers also will meet 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 3 and 10.
