Music Boosters

Traverse City — Anyone interested in the TCAPS music programs or with a child in a TCAPS music program is invited to the Traverse City Music Boosters annual meeting.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Central High School orchestra/band rooms, off Milliken Drive near the baseball field. A short music performance will be followed by a business meeting and a presentation on the TCAPS Bond Proposal. For details, call 933-7570.

Music in the hills

Bellaire — Pianist Rich Ridenour and trumpeter Brandon Ridenour will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Church in the Hills. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students; call 533-6001 or 331-6587.

A taste of Italy

Empire — The Empire United Methodist Church women will hold a "Spaghetti Bolognese" dinner Saturday, Sept. 29.

The meal will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 10050 Michigan St. The cost is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 11 and younger. Proceeds go toward United Methodist Women mission projects.


Traverse City — Oktoberfest is Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 912 S. Garfield Ave.

There will be food, live music and children's activities from 3 to 7 p.m. Carry-out meals will be available.

Advance prices are $8 for adults, $4 ages 6-14, and $20 for a family pass. Tickets at the door are $10 adults, $6 ages 6-14 and $25 for a family pass.

Tickets are available by calling 409-4696 or at the church office Monday through Thursday 1-3 p.m.

Probate training

Traverse City — Grand Traverse County Probate Court will hold pre-service orientation for anyone interested in becoming Volunteers in Prevention/Probate.

Potential volunteers will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, to learn what the Probate and Family Court does and to find out about opportunities to volunteer in prevention, probation and guardianship. Those who wish to become volunteers also will meet 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 3 and 10. All meetings will be held at the Volunteer Services Division Office-Hall of Justice, 280 Washington St. Participants should arrive before 5:15 p.m. to clear security. For details, call 922-4827.
