Haas birthday

TRAVERSE CITY — Jeff Haas will celebrate his birthday during “Jazz at the Cambria” from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 9, in Reflect Bistro at the Cambria Suites, 127 Munson Ave.

Haas will be joined by saxophonist Laurie Sears, bassist Jack Dryden, and drummer/hamonica player Randy Marsh. There is no cover charge and a full menu will be available until 11 p.m.

School open house

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse Bay Christian School will hold an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the school, 1895 Keystone Road North. All parents and interested new families are invited. Call 929-9504 to learn more.

Water tour

BENZIE COUNTY — Mike Jones from the Benzie Conservation District, will lead a Pickerel Creek and Twin Lakes Water Tour on Friday, May 10.

The tour will start at 9 a.m. from the Grass Lake State Forest Campground. Participants should dress for the weather, bring a canoe or kayak, a and a personal flotation device. The suggested donation is $5. For details, contact Jones, 882-4391 or mike@benziecd.org.

Senior lunch

INTERLOCHEN — Area seniors are invited to the Monday, May 13, senior luncheon at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Reservations are needed by 10 a.m. Friday, May 10.

The meal will be served at noon, but seniors are invited to come early for fellowship and stay after lunch for games. The meal is $3 per person, or brown bag for no charge. Activities are free.

Farmer’s Market

FIFE LAKE — The Fife Lake Farmer’s Market opens its second season on Saturday, May 11.

Brunch, auction

GLEN ARBOR — The National Honor Societies of Leelanau and Glen Lake schools will host a Mother’s Day Brunch and silent auction fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region.
