Railroad buffs meet

Traverse City — The Railroad Historical Society of Northwest Michigan will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth Street. Member Brian Leiteritz will give a program on "Dome Car Magic" (2006) and "Streamliners of Yesteryear" (1937). The public is welcome.

Festival of Trees

Traverse City — Zonta Club of Traverse City will host the Festival of Trees Nov. 7 through 11 at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St.

The festival features professionally decorated trees and school trees, visits with Santa Claus, a sale of wreaths and accessories, family photo areas, entertainment, raffles, craft and cooking demonstrations and refreshments. There also are a number of ticketed special events.

General admission times are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, with Santa's Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $4 for students and free for ages 4 and younger. A new family package is available with additional tickets for any age $2 each after the purchase of three full-price tickets.

Special ticketed events include a Wednesday, Nov. 7, fashion show and luncheon, $40; a Veteran's Reception 6-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, $12.50 per person, free for veterans; a Storybook Lunch at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, $24 per person; and a Dolly & Me Tea Party 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, $24 per person.

Kidzart camp

Traverse City — KidzArt on East State Street will host its first ever "Black Friday Arts Camp" on Friday, Nov. 23.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., children ages 5 to 15 will be able to make up to 10 different art projects that will be gift-wrapped and ready for holiday giving. Registration is $99 per student and will close at 24 children. To register, email
