Pre-theater meal

Traverse City — The Soup Cup is offering a pre-theatre meal package prior to evening performances of "Humble Boy" at the Old Town Playhouse Studio Theatre.

The light dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight through Saturday, Oct. 11-13, and Oct. 18 through 20. It includes a presentation about the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Diners are guaranteed first entry to the performance.

Country dance

Cadillac — The Fonda Starr Band will provide music for an old-time country and square dance.

The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at 9116 E. 13th St., next to Kiley Chiropractic. Donations will be accepted.

Events at Wagbo

East Jordan — Martha Wagbo Farm and Education Center will hold a community potluck and barter circle and host the Northwoods Family Nature Club.

The potluck and barter circle will start with a noon potluck on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the center, 5745 N. M-66. Bring a dish to pass if you can. Drinks and table service will be provided. Participants trade goods and produce with each other at a barter circle and should remember that it is not a rummage sale.

The Northwoods Family Nature Club will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the center. The relatively unstructured playtime in the natural world is open to families with children of all ages. There is no charge.

East Jordan — Raven Hill Discovery Center's free Second Saturday is open to families with children of all ages.

Fall block party

Traverse City — The Boardman Neighborhood Association's Fall Block Party will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the 400 block of State Street. It is free to all Boardman Neighborhood residents. Attendees are asked to bring an "Oktoberfest" or fall-themed food dish to share. For details, call 929-0437.

NMC music

Traverse City — Northwestern Michigan College's Music Department will hold a student convocation on Friday. Oct. 12.

NMC music majors, faculty and NMC's adult flute choir will perform at 1 p.m. in room 115 of the Fine Arts Building. Dr. Deborah Podolka also will lead a master class in "The Fine Art of Practicing." There is no charge and the public is invited.
