Lecture series

HARBOR SPRINGS — Crooked Tree Arts Center, with support from Harbor Light Newspaper, is sponsoring the Harbor Springs Summer Friends Lecture Series.

Programs start at 4 p.m. Tuesdays, July 9 through Aug. 13, with light bites and signature drinks, followed by the lecture at 4:30 p.m., at the Harbor Springs Library.

Seats are $15 per lecture and limited.

4-H fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — A pig roast and raffle on Thursday, July 4, will benefit the local 4-H community.

The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. in the Sarya Orthodontics parking lot, 403 E. State St.

There will be food, fun, games and a raffle. Food will be served until 4 p.m. or while it lasts.

Donations will be accepted. The 4-H also is looking for donations of used jeans to help decorate the barns.

Exhibit, reception

GLEN ARBOR — Northern Michigan’s rural landscape and its historic farm buildings are the focus of Frankfort painter Ellie Harold’s exhibition, “Barn Love,” at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St.

The show of plein air and studio oil paintings opens with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, July 5, and continues through Thursday, July 11.

Harold also will talk about her affection for northern Michigan barns, her technique, her newly published book “7 Habits of Deeply Fulfilled Artists” and answer questions at a gallery talk at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, also at Center Gallery.

History ‘rocks’

PETOSKEY — History is the theme on Friday, July 5, for the next event in the “Petoskey Rocks!” series.

The Little Traverse Historical Society will sponsor a historic festival from 6 to 9 p.m. with historic photos in downtown stores, costumed characters and more. For details, visit www.petoskeydowntown.com.

Art park concert

THOMPSONVILLE — Heidi Hepler and Michele Ramo will kick of the Summer Sounds Concert Series at Michigan Legacy Art Park.
