'Art Bomb' entries
Traverse City — Interested artists have until Saturday, Dec. 15, to submit entries for an art show at Right Brain Brewery.
Grand Traverse Art Bomb will be on display Jan. 5-March 30 at the brewery, 225 E. 16th St. It is for artists working in all media to display and sell their work commission-free.
A $50 application fee will be charged to avoid gallery commission prices. For details or to submit artwork, call 494-6828.
TRAVERSE CITY — Garden Grounds, 1000 Milliken Dr., will dedicate Saturday, Dec. 15, to raising funds and awareness for Old Town Playhouse's final performance at Swingshift and the Stars.
The new business features coffee, sandwiches, local scones, healthy snacks and Michigan-made treats. It will donate 50 percent of its sale proceeds from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Old Town Playhouse's Swingshift team.

Santa in Kingsley
Kingsley — Santa will pay a visit to The Rock of Kingsley Youth Center on Saturday, Dec. 15.
Families and children of all ages can meet Santa, have their pictures taken with him, and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies from 6 to 8 p.m. The Rock of Kingsley is located at 115 E. Blair St.

Toys for Tots
Traverse City — A "Groovin' for Gifts" fundraiser will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, to benefit Toys for Tots and Benzie Area Christian Neighbors.
The 4-11 p.m. event will be held at Fallen Timbers Event Center, 13901 U.S. 31, 15 miles west of Chum's Corner. Admission is a new, unwrapped toy. Proceeds of an all-you-can-eat pasta bar and raffle will benefit BACN.
Cadillac — A "Glorious Sounds of Christmas" concert will be performed at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Cadillac United Methodist Church. A free-will offering will be collected for Healing Private Wounds.
Bear Lake — Dennis Gwizdala will give a Christmas concert during the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Dec. 16, at Bear Lake Christian Church, 221 Bear Lake Road. The public is invited.
Traverse City — Grand Traverse Pavilions will host an open house Sunday, Dec. 16, to showcase Hawthorn Lofts, the new independent living apartments for seniors.
The open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on the third floor of Hawthorn Cottage, located behind the main building of The Pavilions and across from Munson Manor.
Traverse City — TART Trails' Smart Commute Program and Bike-In TC will sponsor an outdoor screening of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."
The film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center amphitheater. Attendees should dress for the weather and bring seating and an FM radio for audio transmitted over an FM frequency. Bonfires will be provided.

Traverse City — The East Bay Branch Library continues a holiday tradition when it hosts an ornament party with local artist Jacqueline Southby.
Patrons can create keepsake paper ornaments from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the library, 1989 Three Mile Road. Signup is required; call 922-2085.
FRANKFORT — "Spirituality Expressed" is on exhibit through Jan. 6 at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts, 132 Coast Guard Road.

Bear Lake — For the eighth year, the Bear Lake Promoters and the Bear Lake Village Council have created a holiday lighting display in the lakeside park.
"Sparkle in the Park" features nearly 50 sites that may be viewed nightly from 5 to 11 p.m. through New Year's Eve. There is no charge to drive through, but a donation box is located near Toyland Bear Lake for contributions.
