Gift of warmth

TRAVERSE CITY — Precision Plumbing & Heating in Traverse City is looking nominations for its Extreme Precision Make-Over.

Nominations should include the submitter’s name and telephone number, the nominee’s name, telephone number, home address and mailing address if different, details of the nominee’s current heating situation (forced air, boiler, etc.), type of home, general age of home, and most importantly an explanation of the nominee’s situation and why they should be chosen. Precision Plumbing & Heating will chose a situation they feel will benefit the most and install a top-of-the-line Trane Comfort System at no charge.

Garden Club lunch

TORCH RIVER — The Juniper Garden Club of South Torch Lake will host their annual Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Torch Riviera. New members are welcome.

Benzie Dems party

BENZONIA — All Benzie County Democrats are invited to a free winter holiday celebration on Friday, Dec. 6.

The event will start at 5:30 p.m. at Grow Benzie, 5885 M-115. A potluck dinner will be followed by socializing and live music. Celebrants should bring a dish to share and also may bring their own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Meat and some beverages will be provided. Donations for the Benzie County Baby Pantry also will be collected.

Lego competition

TRAVERSE CITY — Fifteen teams of northern Michigan students will gather on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Grand Traverse Academy for the qualifying tournament of Michigan’s 2013 FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League “Nature’s Fury” Challenge.
