GT Dems meet

TRAVERSE CITY — All Democrats are invited to the Thursday, Sept. 5, meeting of the Grand Traverse County Democratic Executive Board.

Newcomers dinner

TRAVERSE CITY — Paid reservations are needed by Friday, Sept. 6, for the Newcomers Club of Grand Traverse Fall Kickoff Dinner.

The event will be held Monday, Sept. 16, at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St. A cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner at 7:30 p.m. The price is $30 per person.

Star gazing

EMPIRE — The night sky will be on view Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Dune Climb parking lot.

The “Star Party” will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. with viewing of the summer Milky Way and deep sky objects. There is no charge, however National Park admission is required.

The event will be cancelled during inclement weather, with a decision made three hours before the event. Call 326-5135, ext. 331, for a voicemail message with the decision.

Puzzles needed

BENZONIA — The Benzonia Public Library, 891 Michigan Ave., is looking for donations of jigsaw puzzles in good condition with no missing pieces for its upcoming fund-raising puzzle sale. For details, call 882-4111.

Dine out for BACN

BENZIE COUNTY — On Tuesday the community can enjoy a dinner out and help Benzie Area Christian Neighbors.

A portion of each dinner check on that date at the Bayview Grille on Main Street in Frankfort or the Brookside Inn on U.S. 31 in Beulah will benefit BACN, the largest food and clothing pantry in Benzie County.
