Concert on the Lawn set

TRAVERSE CITY — Dominic Fortuna and Willy Jam will close the Grand Traverse Pavilions’ Concerts on the Lawn Series.

The high-energy performance starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, on the Grand Lawn at the Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. Picnic concessions open at 6:15 p.m. For details, call 932-3027 or visit www.gtpavilions.org.

Exhibit of landscapes

GLEN ARBOR — Grand Rapids artist Jeff Condon will exhibit a collection of his landscapes at Center Gallery at Lake Street Studios, 6023 S. Lake St.

The exhibit, titled “Beauty of the Earth,” will open Friday, Aug. 30, with a reception at 6 p.m. It will be on display through Thursday, Sept. 5. Call 334-3179 for details.

Brethren Days here

BRETHREN — Brethren Days will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 30, through Sunday, Sept. 1.

Most activities will take place at Dickson Township Park on East Coates Highway. The celebration opens at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, with music by the Brian Nolf Band. The Cook Shack and Beer Tent will both be open until 11 p.m.

Activities on Saturday, Aug. 31, start with softball at 8 a.m. and include fireworks at dusk over Lake Elinor. The beer tent will remain open until 1 a.m.

Brethren Days continues from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, with church services, softball, a Grand Parade at 4 p.m. and more.

Dunes restoration

EMPIRE — A Great Lakes Restoration Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Dune Climb entrance to the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail.

The event includes native plantings, weed pulling competitions, themed song and poem contests, commentary recordings for future educational videos and more. There is no charge, however a National Park entrance pass is required. For details, call 326-5235, ext. 328, or visit www.nps.gov/slbe.
