Tower Garden intro

TRAVERSE CITY — Nancy Kroupa will give an introduction to the vertical Tower Garden system at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce. The public is invited.

Rummage sale

TRAVERSE CITY — The United Methodist Women of Central United Methodist Church will hold their spring rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 25, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the church, 222 Cass St. Proceeds benefit mission projects; call 946-5191.

Student essays

SCOTTVILLE — The Literacy Network invites the public to recognize 16 award-winning local students as they read their ‘This I Believe’ essay during the ‘This I Believe’ Celebration on Thursday, April 25, at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. Swiss steak meal

GRAWN — The Grawn United Methodist Church will host a Swiss steak dinner on Saturday, April 27.

The meal will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1260 S. West Silver Lake Road.

The cost is $8 for adults; free for children 5 and younger. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of new windows for the church.

Short’s anniversary

BELLAIRE — Short’s Brewing Co. will celebrate its ninth anniversary on Saturday, April 27.

The party will be held from 3 p.m. to midnight at the brewing company, 121 N. Bridge St. There will be 43 different beers, four musical acts and a one-day-only anniversary party menu. For details, visit

Autism walk

BOYNE CITY — North Country Community Mental Health will sponsor its second annual Fun Walk for Autism Acceptance on Saturday, April 27.

The walk will be start at Veteran’s Memorial Park. On-site registration starts at 9 a.m. and the approximately half-mile walk begins at 10 a.m. Registration is $10. All participants will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win prizes. You must be present to win.
