Book club for guys

Traverse City — "Guys Read Too," a book club for boys in grades three through seven, will meet from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road.

The group will discuss "My Life in Dog Years" by Gary Paulsen. There also will be a related craft and snacks. Books are available to check out at the library front desk.

Films discussion

Traverse City — "Little Films, Big Ideas" will be in the spotlight at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Grand Traverse.

Mark Gustafson will show two short films and lead discussion starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14. The public is invited. The UUCGT is located at 6726 Center Road. For details, call 947-3117.

Fundraiser for KAIR

Kalkaska — The next "American Idol" judge could be in Kalkaska Thursday, Nov. 15. That's when a nationwide event sponsored by Ford will videotape contestants who want a chance to be a guest judge on the popular TV show. The event also will help support KAIR.

"Go Further With Ford Night" will offer a chance to be an "American Idol" judge and allow people to register to win a 2013 Ford Fusion and tickets to a taping of "American Idol." In addition, for every guest who comes into the dealership for the event, Ford will donate $10 to KAIR.

Online registrations are available now at Bill Marsh will have a video booth set up in the showroom where contestants will critique videos from their favorite artists. The first of the fully redesigned Ford Fusions also will be available for test drives. For details, call the dealership, 258-9192.
