Evening on River St.

ELK RAPIDS — The Waterline Band will provide music for Evening on River Street tonight, July 10.

The event from 6 to 9 p.m. also features face painting, zumba, balloon fun, a fish pond, local food vendors and more. For details, call the Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, 264-8202.

Pico and Chown

THOMPSONVILLE — Pianist David Chown and vocalist Miriam Pico will perform a selection of original songs and jazz standards for the next in the Michigan Legacy Art Park’s Summer Sounds Concert Series.

The duo will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the art park on the grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort. Rides to the amphitheatre begin at 6:15 p.m. for those unable to walk the trail. Guests may bring picnics, lawn chairs or blankets. Folding chairs also will be available to purchase or rent.

Fun at the Y

TRAVERSE CITY — Family games is the theme for Family Fun Night Friday, July 12, at the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the main facility, 3000 Racquet Club Dr., with outdoor games, all-you-can-eat food and more. Admission is free for Y members; $15 per family for non-members. Visit www.gtbayymca.org to learn more.

Art exhibit opens

GLEN ARBOR — An exhibit of work by Peggy Driehorst of Carmel, Ind., will open with a reception at the Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St.

Driehorst painted murals and furniture professionally before returning her focus to fine arts. She paints abstract and traditional landscapes and her show includes recent paintings of Leelanau County.

The opening reception will be hosted from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 12. The exhibit continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 13; and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14. For more information, call 334-6112.
