Pavilions concerts

TRAVERSE CITY — The Concerts on the Lawn series at the Grand Traverse Pavilions opens Thursday, July 11, with the Sun Radius Studio Steel Pan Band and Japanese Drummers.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. on the Grand Lawn at the Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. Concessions open at 6:15 p.m. and include burgers, hot dogs, chips and Moomer’s ice cream. Raffle tickets also will be sold for $5 each for a $1,000 drawing.

Picnic and concert

TRAVERSE CITY — The staff at the Peninsula Community Library invites the community to pack a picnic and blanket and join them under the trees for an evening of music.

‘Patterns’ study

GLEN ARBOR — Ohio artist Joseph Lombardo will exhibit his study of “Patterns” plein air and studio paintings of Leelanau County at Center Gallery at Lake Street Studios, 6023 S. Lake St.

Lombardo will give a demonstration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the gallery and his exhibit opens that night with a reception at 6 p.m. The exhibit continues through Thursday, July 18. Call 334-3179 to learn more.

South Arm Classics

EAST JORDAN — The South Arm Classics will include a new kayak poker run and expanded boat and car shows.

On Saturday, July 13, the South Arm Classic Boat Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Classic Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new Kayak Poker run is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. An expanded Micro Brew Tent featuring 10 breweries will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. in the East Jordan City Marina parking lot and will showcase two musical venues.
