Leadership lunch

Traverse City --Reservations are due Friday, Oct. 5, for the Center for Coaching and Leadership Development's Leadership Lunch on Friday, Oct. 12.

Harvest camping

Traverse City — The Northwestern Michigan Fair is sponsoring a Harvest Festival and camping weekend Friday through Sunday, Oct. 5-7, at the fairgrounds, Blair Town Hall Road. The cost is $30 for the weekend, which includes a $20 non-refundable depot to secure a site. For details, visit

Fun and music

Torch Lake potluck

Eastport — Area residents are invited to the Upper Torch Lake Association potluck at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the Torch Lake Township Community Services Building on U.S. 31. Attendees should bring a beverage, table service, and a dish to share with a list of its ingredients.

GOP Women's Club

Traverse City — U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek and Grand Traverse County Sheriff Tom Bensley will speak at the Monday, Oct. 8, meeting of the Traverse Area Republican Women's Club.

Asian carp threat

Suttons Bay — Mark Breederland of Michigan Sea Grant will give an update on the potential for invasion of Asian carp in the Great Lakes at the Tuesday, Oct. 9, Great Lakes Seminar.

IAAP events

Traverse City — The Northern Michigan Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will host two events in October.

Vegan potluck

Traverse City — For Animals will host a vegan potluck from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave.

Apple pie orders

Kingsley — St. Mary-Hannah Parish will take orders for homemade apple pies until Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Pies will be made Friday, Oct. 19, and must be picked up that day from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary-Hannah School, 2912 W. M-113. The pies are $8. They are unbaked and ready for the oven or freezer.

Oil change for mom

Traverse City — Auto Tech Inc. and the Orchard Church are offering single moms a free oil change.

Oil changes will be by appointment between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. either Oct. 13 at the 3037 Cass Road, Traverse City, location; or Oct. 20 at the 115 W. Main St., Kingsley site. There also will be a children's winter apparel give-away, complimentary interior car vacuuming and winter vehicle inspections.
