The Grand Traverse Lighthouse is looking for volunteers to help with its Haunted Lighthouse event and Christmas at the Lighthouse.

The Haunted Lighthouse is scheduled for Oct. 20-21. Help is needed decorating the haunted basement and main floor. Volunteer docents also are needed to give guided tours for historic ghost walks during October.

Christmas at the Lighthouse will be held Dec. 2. Volunteers are needed to help decorate the lighthouse and help during the event.

The lighthouse is located in Leelanau State Park, north of Northport. For details or to volunteer, call Stef Staley, 386-7195.

The Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency is looking for volunteers for its Tax Preparation Program.

Volunteers help low-income residents prepare and file their tax returns and help them apply for the Earned Income Tax Credits, Child Care Credits, Homestead Credits and Home Heating Credits. Trax preparation experience is preferred. NMCAA provides training on tax preparation of low-income returns and TaxWise software. After passing a basic IRS tax preparation test, volunteers can choose to do tax preparation at times and a location that fit their schedules.
