Arts Association meets
NORTHPORT — The Northport Arts Association will meet at noon on Monday, June 9, at the Soggy Dollar restaurant.
After a short business meeting, member Marjorie Farrell will discuss how she got her work into the Grand Rapids ArtPrize. The public is welcome.
Free admission for military
TRAVERSE CITY — As a Blue Star Museum, the Great Lakes Children’s Museum is part of a national appreciation effort for military families.
Through Labor Day, Sept. 1, the museum is offering free admission for active duty, reserve and National Guard members and their families with military ID. The museum is located at 13240 S. West Bay Shore Dr. To learn more, call 932-4526 or visit www.greatlakeskids.org.
Musicale scholarship winners perform
TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Musicale will host a performance on Thursday, June 12, by its 2014 scholarship winners.
The free concert starts at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road. The public is invited. Donations for the Musicale scholarship fund are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
Children’s Center benefit
NORTHPORT — The Northport Lions Club will sponsor a concert on Saturday, June 14, to benefit the Leelanau Children’s Center.
The evening will open with a silent auction of chocolate delicacies at 7:15 p.m. at the Northport Community Arts Center, 104 S. Wing St. Peter, Paul & Mary Remembered will perform at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children. They are available from any Northport Lions Club member or at the door.
Outdoor painting day
TRAVERSE CITY — Artcenter Traverse City will sponsor a day of outdoor painting on Saturday, June 14, at the Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park.
Artists may register from 9-11 a.m. at the Garden Visitors Center. During the day, they may bring and sell previously completed paintings. New paintings created during the day may be entered in a wet painting sale and reception from 5-6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at the reception.
