March for Marriage Equality

TRAVERSE CITY —A March for Marriage Equality will be held Thursday, June 5.

Marchers are asked to meet at 4:45 p.m. at Legion Park on the corner of Cass and Washington streets for a one-hour march through downtown. Some signs are available, but additional signs would be appreciated.

Painting demo

GLEN ARBOR — Maple City artist Carol C. Spaulding will give a painting demonstration in conjunction with the “Color of Light” exhibit at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St.

The demonstration will start at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 8. The public is welcome. The exhibit will be on display through June 26. For details, call 334-3179.

MARSP joint meeting

TRAVERSE CITY — Reservations are needed by Friday, June 6, for the next luncheon meeting of the Grand Traverse Association of Retired School Personnel.

The group meets at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the West Bay Beach Resort-A Holiday Inn Resort, 615 E. Front St. Association lobbyist Matthew Kurta will be the guest speaker.

Art Walk

ELK RAPIDS — For the first time, the Walk of Art Sculpture Park will participate in an open house art walk on Saturday, June 7.

The sculpture park in Elk Rapids Day Park on South Bayshore Drive will join Mullaly’s 128 Studio & Gallery on River Street, Blue Heron Gallery on Ames Street, and Twisted Fish Gallery and StoneHedge Gallery & Studio, both on U.S. 31, for the event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Blue Heron Gallery owner Dan Reszka will demonstrate watercolors throughout the day. Other artists that will demonstrate their art include Jon Delos Reed at 11 a.m., Ron Musgrave at noon and Pat Flynn at 1 p.m. Guitarist Tom Dionne will perform at noon.

Twisted Fish Gallery will host demonstrations by Betty Bea Washburn from 10 a.m.-noon, Chuck Forman, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., and Gail Hayton, noon-4 p.m.
