TC Sings summer session

TRAVERSE CITY — TC Sings! Community Choir’s summer session starts Wednesday, June 4.

The group will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through June at the Grand Traverse Circuit, 225 W. 14th St.

All voices are welcome. Music is taught orally and there is no need to read music. No previous singing experience is required.

Registration is $25 for four weeks or drop in for $7 per session.

Sliding scale and scholarships are available based on need.

Volunteer kickoff

EMPIRE — Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore will host a kickoff meeting for Trail Ambassador volunteers and anyone interested in becoming a volunteer on the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail.

The meeting starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the DH Day Log Cabin at DH Day Campground. Volunteers are asked to park at Glen Haven and ride their bike or walk the trail to the cabin.

Trail Ambassadors are asked to commit to being on the trail at least two times each month from spring through fall. They should be available to answer questions and give directions. They also report problems with the trail.

Program on minimum wage

TRAVERSE CITY — Attorney Mark Brewer will discuss the benefits of raising the Michigan minimum wage and answer questions on the 2014 elections on Saturday, June 7.

The program starts at 9:30 a.m. at Minerva’s Restaurant in the Park Place Hotel, 300 E. State St.

It is sponsored by the Grand Traverse County Democratic Party. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
