Farm market opens

KINGSLEY — The Kingsley Farm Market will open for the season Wednesday, June 4. Market hours are 2-7 p.m. each Wednesday in Brownson Park, near the library and splash pad.

LWV Leelanau program

SUTTONS BAY — The League of Women Voters Leelanau County will outline the results of a demographic study and interviews with county officials and others regarding current and future trends in the county.

“The Changing Dynamics of Leelanau County: What are the Opportunities and Challenges in Our Corner of Michigan” starts at noon Wednesday, June 4, at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Visual art celebration

TRAVERSE CITY — “Art and the Garden,” sponsored by Artcenter Traverse City and the Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park, is a month-long visual art celebration of the beauty of landscape and flora.

The schedule includes: a “Painting Spring Flora” watercolor class with Robert Fionda on Wednesday and Thursday, June 4-5; an opening reception for a juried exhibit of visual art from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, with awards presented at 6:30 p.m.; and a lecture on protecting and caring for trees from 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 9, by Josh Deering.

Also scheduled is a Plein Air Paint Out event from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 14. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m., with a reception and sale from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

A lecture on fairy gardens by Karen McClatchy will be offered from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18.
