Waters of Benzie tours

BEULAH — The Benzie Conservation District will host four educational water tours to encourage local residents and visitors to explore Benzie County’s lakes and streams.

The first tour will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Friday, May 23. Participants will explore Otter Creak, located in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Participants should bring their own canoe or kayak and life jacket or personal flotation device. A $5 to $10 donation also is suggested and a national park pass is required for parking. Adopt-A-Beach kick off

EMPIRE — Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore will hold a kick-off meeting Saturday, May 31, for Adopt-A-Beach volunteers.

Volunteers select one of the Lake Michigan beaches in the National Lakeshore and commit to patrolling the beach at least once a month from spring through fall. Volunteers receive an annual pass to the National Lakeshore. The meeting starts at 1 p.m. in the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center, M-72. To learn more, visit http://friendsofsleepingbear.org.

Janice Keegan Quintet

LELAND — The Janice Keegan Jazz Quintet will perform Saturday, May 31, at the Old Art Building’s W.T. Best Theater, 111 Main St.

Vocalist Keegan, saxophonist Bill Sears, pianist Steve Stargardt, bassist Edward Fedewa and drummer David Collini will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Dover Quartet to perform June 1

TRAVERSE CITY — The acclaimed Dover Quartet will present a program of music by Mozart, Rogerson and Beethoven on Sunday, June. 1.

The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum, Center, 1410 College Dr. A pre-concert IPR interview with the performers will start at 7 p.m. on the Milliken stage.
