European-style bake sale

TRAVERSE CITY — A European-style bake sale will be held Saturday, May 24, to support a mission trip to Ukraine.

The sale will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Slavic Evangelical Church, 757 E. Silver Lake Road. The public is invited.

Glen Haven Days set for May 24

EMPIRE — Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore will offer Glen Haven Days to the public for the first time on Saturday, May 24. In the past, the program has been offered to school groups only.

Glen Haven is considered one of the best surviving examples of an early Great Lakes steamship village in the region. Today, the National Park Service preserves and interprets the blacksmith shop, general store, cannery boat museum and the Sleeping Bear Point Life-Saving Station.

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m., visitors can join park rangers and volunteers in hands-on activities related to Michigan’s maritime heritage at the historic village and life-saving station. The program is free, but a park entrance pass is required. For details, visit

Volunteers sought at Rogers preserve

EAST JORDAN — The Little Traverse Conservancy is seeking volunteers to help with spring clean up at the Rogers Family Homestead Preserve just outside of East Jordan.

Clean up will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 24. Volunteers should bring a lunch, work gloves and wear sturdy shoes. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. For details or to sign up, contact Mike Lynch, 344-1011 or

Rescue plant sale at Village Green

LELAND — The Wildflower Rescue Plant Sale will be held Memorial Day weekend at the Village Green.

Sale hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 23-24. Four Season Nursery will be on hand to answer questions. For details, visit or call 256-9665.
