Kids’ safety event

TRAVERSE CITY — A “Keep Kids Safe” event will be held today, May 17, at Lowe’s on U.S. 31 South.

The event, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., includes safety activities, emergency vehicles, helmet fittings, a fire extinguisher simulator, poison look-alike display, the home escape obstacle course and more. For details, call the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, 947-3000, ext. 1234.

Churchrummage sale

LAKE ANN — Advent Lutheran Church will hold its fifth annual rummage sale at the Almira Township Hall.

Sale hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, May 22, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 23. Lunch will be available.

‘Fiddler on the Roof’ auditions

NORTHPORT — Northport Community Arts Center will hold open auditions at the NCAC auditorium at Northport Public Schools, 104 S. Wing St., for its upcoming production of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Auditions will be held Monday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 21, from 6-7 p.m. for male roles and 7-9:30 p.m. for female roles. Call-backs will be from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22. For details, call 386-5001 or email northportcac@gmail.com.

GT Neighborhood meeting

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Neighborhood meeting is held on the third Tuesday of the month and offers an opportunity to share skills and experience in a casual setting. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 20.

The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, 3963 Three Mile Road. Suzy Puroll from Grand Traverse Industries will talk about the Job Development Network. TRAVERSE CITY — Dr. Jason Buttleman, DC, will discuss “Chiropractic Care: Why Do We Hurt” at the next program in the Successful Aging series.
