Traverse Heights Neighborhood meets

TRAVERSE CITY — The North Traverse Heights Neighborhood Association will meet today, May 15.

The meeting will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at Traverse Heights Elementary School, 933 Rose St. The organization includes an area from Eighth to Centre and Woodmere to Garfield, however neighbors from the south side of Traverse Heights, which includes the boundary from Centre to Boon, also are welcome.

Party for ISEA schooner

SUTTONS BAY — Inland Seas Education Association will celebrate the 20th birthday of the schooner Inland Seas on Friday, May 16.

The party starts at 12:15 p.m. with cake and Moomer’s ice cream at ISEA, 100 Dame St. There also will be a potluck starting between 5:30 and 6 p.m., also at the ISEA on Dame Street. For details, call 271-3077 or visit

Blossom Day

TRAVERSE CITY — The eight wineries of Old Mission Peninsula will open their cellar doors during the wine trail’s Blossom Day event on Saturday, May 17.

Event hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants will have the chance to taste soon-to-be-released wines from the barrel or tank and meet and talk with the winemakers. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 the day of the event. They include a souvenir glass, while supplies last, and tastings at all eight wineries. Regular tasting room options also are available.

Library Friends event scheduled

KINGSLEY — The Kingsley Friends of the Library will host their annual membership event on Saturday, May 17.

The event will be held from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Kingsley Branch of the Traverse Area District Library, 213 S. Brownson. It will include a review of 2013, plans for 2014 and a program of poetry and song by Jim Crockett. The public is invited.
