Art exhibit reception

FRANKFORT — An exhibit of drawings and paintings by the late Shirley Trump is on display at West Michigan Bank & Trust, 501 Main St. A reception will be hosted from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 9.

The exhibit, titled "The Lost Portfolio of Shirley Trump," features some of the 47 works in a black leather portfolio that Jeryl Colby of Colby's Orchard House saved for eight years and gave Trump's daughter, Susan Maunders Olson, last spring when she returned to Frankfort.

The exhibit may be viewed during regular bank hours through Aug. 6. For details, call 352-9655.

'Power of the Purse'

TRAVERSE CITY — The Goodwill Inn will host a brunch on Saturday, May 10, as a fundraiser for women and families staying at the Goodwill Inn.

The event will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. Guests will learn more about the Goodwill Inn, meet exclusive "Purse-On-Alities" and browse a silent auction. There also will be complimentary photos.

Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at www.goodwillnmi.org/powerofthepurse or at the Goodwill main office, 2279 S. Airport Road.

Mushroom foray

BELLAIRE — Grass River Natural Area will launch a series of Mushroom Forays on Saturday, May 10.

"Morels" is the topic for the first event starting at 9:30 a.m. at the natural area, 6500 Alden Highway. The series is designed to help participants develop their mushroon identification skills. Dance Center concerts

TRAVERSE CITY — The Dance Center of Traverse City will host its 46th annual Concert Series.

On Saturday, May 10, young children's concerts will start at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and feature students ages 3-6. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
