Spring Fling concert

TRAVERSE CITY — The East Bay Branch Library, 1989 Three Mile Road, invites friends of all ages to a free Spring Fling family concert on Tuesday, May 6.

The event from 6:30-8 p.m. features music by Glenn Wolff and Robin Lee Berry and a make and take flower craft. Refreshments also will be served. For details, call 922-2085 or visit

Chicken workshop

EAST JORDAN — The third workshop in the ISLAND series on raising chickens will be held Tuesday, May 6.

“Pasture-Raised Laying Hens” will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. at Bluestem Farm, 4218 M-32 at the Adams intersection. Both seasoned farmers and first-time chicken growers are invited to tour the farm with owner Aaron Brower and learn how pastured chickens produce both delicious eggs and healthy soils. Designs for mobile housing will be included. Registration is not required and the public is invited. Donations will be accepted at the door. For details, call 622-5252 or email

Early college info

SUTTONS BAY — An informational program will be held Wednesday, May 7, for the Suttons Bay Early College program.

Early College is a program at Suttons Bay High School for students to begin their college study while completing high school graduation requirements. To be eligible for the program, students must earn qualifying scores on the Compass Test and complete an application packet in their freshman year. Students who are currently in their freshmen or sophomore years are welcome to apply. The information night starts at 7 p.m. at Suttons Bay Schools. For details, call the school 271-8604.

Benefit for ACT-GT

TRAVERSE CITY — Northern Michigan entertainers will stage an evening of music, dance, comedy and family fun Wednesday, May 7, to benefit ACT-GT, Artists Creating Together, a nonprofit organization helping children and adults with disabilities through the arts.

The “Arts for All Benefit Celebration” will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. An afterglow and silent auction in the museum’s Sculpture Court will follow the concert.
