Garden club fundraiser

RAPID CITY — The Juniper Garden Club of South Torch Lake will hold is annual May Basket fundraiser and a monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 6.

The meeting and silent auction start at 12:30 p.m. at Clearwater Township Hall on River Street. Members and the public can bid on a variety of “themed” baskets prepared by club members. Bidding will close at 2 p.m.

Garden volunteers meet Wednesday

TRAVERSE CITY — Children’s Garden volunteers will meet on Wednesday.

Anyone interested in volunteering with the Children’s Garden at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave., is invited to the 7 p.m. meeting at the library.

Plans for the annual plant sale will be outlined.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the library.

Donations of plants, garden items, books and tools for the sale are welcome. They may be dropped off at the small shed or pick-ups are available.

Michael’s Place benefit set

TRAVERSE CITY — “A Night at the Movies” on Friday, May 9, will benefit Michael’s Place, a healing center for those who are grieving.

The event includes a screening of “Secretariat” at 7 p.m. at the State Theatre, 233 E. Front St. Tickets are $25 and include admission, popcorn and beverage.

Monopoly tourney benefits Habitat

TRAVERSE CITY — The second annual Traverse City Monopoly Tournament on Saturday, May 10, will benefit Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region.

The tournament starts at noon at Right Brain Brewery, 225 E. 16th St. Registration is $25 per player and participants must be at least 8 years old. Minors ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian during their participation.
