The documentary examines how food insecurity in the United States affects both adults and children. It will be shown at 1 p.m. at the Bay Theatre on St. Joseph St. Admission is by donation, with a suggested contribution of $10 in cash or an equivalent value in non-perishable food items. Following the film, a panel will discuss the issue of hunger in Leelanau County.

Farm market

INTERLOCHEN — The Interlochen Farmers Market opens for the season on Sunday, May 4.

Pastel Society

TRAVERSE CITY — The Great Lakes Pastel Society’s 2014 National Juried Exhibition is on display at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr.

The exhibit features 70 works by artists from across the United States, plus one from Spain, that were selected from 254 works submitted by 97 artists for consideration by juror Desmond O’Hagan. The exhibit may be viewed through May 25, during museum hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Thursday until 8 p.m., and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools will hold kindergarten round-up by appointment at each of its elementary schools for incoming kindergarten students and their parents.

Round-ups give parents and their children a chance to meet teachers, principals and secretaries while completing the enrollment process. Required vision and hearing screenings also will be administered.
