Fleda Brown event

TRAVERSE CITY — Award-winning poet Fleda Brown will read some of her original poetry and answer questions starting at 7 p.m. today, April 22, at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. The program is free and open to the public. Visit www.tadl.org to learn more.

 

Day camp registration

TRAVERSE CITY — Open houses and registration for Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Summer Adventure Day Camps will be held for parents interested in learning more about the program.

Day camps are available for children ages 3 to 12 and offer flexible scheduling options. Financial assistance may be available for qualifying families.

Open houses and registration will be held at the follow times and locations: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, Cherry Knoll School library; 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday April 24, Long Lake Elementary School library and Willow Hill Elementary School cafeteria; and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, Central Grade School cafeteria.

 

Smart phone apps

SUTTONS BAY — Leelanau County Senior Services will offer a program on new smart phone apps.

Steve Stanton of Leelanau Computer Repair will discuss new applications available for smart phone and tablet users at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23. The session will be held at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center. There is no charge, but reservations are requested. For details or reservations, call 256-8121.

Kindergarten round-up

TRAVERSE CITY — Holy Angels Elementary School will hold kindergarten round-up on Thursday, April 24. Call the school office, 946-5961, to participate.

 

‘Mom 2 Mom’ sale

KINGSLEY — St. Mary-Hannah will sponsor a Mom 2 Mom sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the school. Admission is a non-perishable food donation for the food pantry in Kingsley. Call 263-5288 or email smh.homeandschool@gmail.com to learn more.

 

Volunteer training

TRAVERSE CITY — Education volunteer training will be held Monday, April 28, at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road.
