Traverse City Record-Eagle
---- — Jeanne Redfern of Traverse City called recently to thank her Record-Eagle carrier, James Lockard, for going above and beyond his job to help her and her husband, Russell.
During the night, Jeanne didn’t hear Russell, who has Parkinson’s disease, get up and attempt to leave the house. Even though he used the front door, which has a railing, he fell.
Before going to bed, Jeanne had asked Russell what he was going to do if he got up and he told her “wake you up.”
“He lied,” Jeanne said.
Jeanne doesn’t know when James came by, but he saw her husband and called for help. Around 4 a.m., the EMS driver woke Jeanne up and told her Russell was outside. Luckily, he didn’t break anything, just suffered some scrapes and bruises.
“James deserves special recognition for going above and beyond to help us,” Jeanne said. “We really appreciate what he did.”
