Dine out for BACN

BENZIE COUNTY — Diners can enjoy a dinner out and help the Benzie Area Christian Neighbors on Tuesday, April 2.

Fusion Restaurant on Main Street in Frankfort and the Brookside Inn Restaurant & Tap Room on U.S. 31 in Beulah will donate a portion of their proceeds that day to help BACN buy food for needy county residents.

History group meets

TRAVERSE CITY — The Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 4.

Peninsula Community Library Director Vicky Shurly will give a program on library resources available for historical research at 7 p.m. at the library, 2699 Island View Road. The public is invited. For details, contact Kennard Weaver, 947-0947 or dobrum@aol.com.

Book club meets

TRAVERSE CITY — Paid reservations are due Thursday, April 4, for the next luncheon meeting of the Village at Bay Ridge Book Club.

The club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, in the West Building dining room, 3950 Scenic Ridge, off Silver Lake Road. Margaret Mallory, the author of historical romance novels, will be the guest speaker. Representatives from Horizon Books will have Mallory’s books for sale.

Northport Follies

NORTHPORT — The Northport Follies on Saturday, April 6, will benefit Northport Promise scholarships.

The Follies open at 7 p.m. at the Northport Community Arts Center at Northport Public School, 104 Wing St. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 12-18 and free for children 11 and younger. Gift bags will be available to purchase and a raffle will be held.

TRAVERSE CITY — Courtade Elementary School’s Montessori program will hold information meetings regarding program options for the 2013-14 school year.

Meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, Tuesday, April 16, and Thursday, April 25, at the school, 111 Rasho Road. For details, call Courtade Principal Caroline Wacker, 933-5800.

Children’s garden

TRAVERSE CITY — Supporters of the Grand Traverse Area Children’s Learning Gardens will meet on Wednesday, April 10.

The gardens are located at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave., where the meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the McGuire Room. New volunteers are always welcome.

Help is needed with the annual plant sale on May 18. Mentors to work with the children and the interns are always needed, as are volunteers with computer skills. To learn more, call Susan Kuschell, 947-0422.
