Arts Festival

BAY HARBOR — The Bay Harbor Arts Festival will be held today and Sunday, July 27-28, in the Village at Bay Harbor.

The juried art festival is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For a complete schedule, visit or call 439-2650.

Exhibit of clay art

CHARLEVOIX — Guest clay artist Rex Benson will exhibit new creative sculptures from Monday, July 29, through Saturday, Aug. 10, at Bier Gallery.

“Creativity from Start to Finish” will feature a kiln opening and artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and an art demonstration and studio open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Concert on Lawn

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northwestern Michigan College Community Band will perform “Music With American Roots” at the Thursday, Aug. 1, Concert on the Lawn at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

The performance starts at 7 p.m. at the Pavilions’ Grand Lawn off South Elmwood Avenue. Picnic concessions open at 6:15 p.m. This concert will move to Howe Arena in case of rain. Admission is free. For details, call 932-3027 or visit

Quartet performs

Rock painting craft

TRAVERSE CITY — The East Bay Branch Library will offer a free drop-in craft day on Friday, Aug. 2.

All ages are invited to paint a rock from noon to 4 p.m. at the library, 1989 Three Mile Road, Brushes, paints and rocks will be available, but participants are welcome to bring their own rocks. Call 922-2085 or visit to learn more.
