Hike is today

TRAVERSE CITY — Gloria Halligan of Traverse City Walks will lead a hike at 2 p.m. today, July 19, at the Miller Creek Reserve.

Participants should meet at the trailhead behind Aldi’s off South Airport Road. The walk is about 2.5 miles in distance and of moderate difficulty.

 

Exhibit opens

GLEN ARBOR — The Glen Arbor Art Association will host an exhibit of watercolor paintings by Sarah Tule of Petoskey.

The exhibit opens tonight, July 19, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the GAAA, 6031 S. Lake St. Tule’s work also may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. Call 334-6112 for details.

 

Jewelry trunk show

BEULAH — Live for Art Gallery will host a trunk show featuring the jewelry of Shaffer Studio from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 25. For details, call 882-9370.

 

Classic boats

SUTTONS BAY —Inland Seas Education Association will host a Classic Boat Show in conjunction with the Leelanau Peninsula Wine on the Water Festival.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Inland Seas Education Center, 100 Dame St. In addition to a variety of canoes, sailboats, motor boats and other vessels, the schooner Madeline will be open for dockside tours. There also will be a rope-making demonstration and a nautical flea market.

Local entertainer

TRAVERSE CITY — Rob Bolin, a former Traverse City resident who has appeared on American Idol and currently lives and performs in Nashville, will perform from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 21, on the deck at North Peak, 400 W. Front St., and from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, July 25, in Kilkenny’s, located on the basement level of North Peak.

 

Art show/sale

LELAND — The 21st annual benefit art exhibition and sale for the Old Art Building begins with a preview event on Friday, July 26. The theme is “W.T. Best Theater” to highlight the Old Art Building’s new capability to show film.
