SUTTONS BAY — Renowned Chippewa artist, craftsman, and author Ron Paquin is building a birchbark canoe as part of the Inland Seas Education Association's Classic Boat Show.
Paquin will be working on the canoe from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, through Friday, July 19, at the corner of St. Joseph and Jefferson streets. He will complete the project on Saturday, July 20, at the boat show. There is no admission fee.

'Christmas in July'
BENZONIA — Our Savior Lutheran Church invites the community to its "Christmas in July" bazaar.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the church, 6790 M-115. There will be handmade and quilted items, used books, jewelry and more.
Blair library services
TRAVERSE CITY — Starting Saturday, July 20, the Traverse Area District Library and Traverse City Area Public Schools are joining forces to provide summer library services at Blair Elementary School, 1625 Sawyer Road.
The school library will be open Saturdays through Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Scheduled programming includes preschool storytime and crafts from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Summer Reading Club and crafts for children in grades one through five from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Residents will be able to borrow books from the school's library and from a selection of TADL books for adults, teens and children.
