Flu vaccine program

TRAVERSE CITY — Dr. Kurt Froese of Lighthouse Chiropractic & Wellness Center will give an educational program titled “The Flu Vaccine-A Shot in the Dark?” from noon-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Chamber of Commerce board room, 202 E. Fitness open house

FRANKFORT — The Betsie Hosick Health and Fitness Center, 102 Airport Road, invites the community to come and see its facilities on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The open house and membership drive kick-off will be hosted from 1-4 p.m. Visitors can tour the facility, view class demonstrations and more. Membership specials continue through Dec. 31. For details, call 352-9661.


ELK RAPIDS — The 238th U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Ball/Fifth Annual Veterans Ball will be hosted Sunday, Nov. 10, at AMVETS Post 114.

Festivities start at 6 p.m., with a traditional ceremony at 7 p.m. followed by dancing. Dress is semi-formal. Veterans will be recognized for their service to their country and admission is free for active-duty military personnel.

LIWdA panel

GLEN ARBOR — Leelanau Independent Women for democratic Action (LIWdA) will host a panel presentation on Move to Amend and Corporate Personhood.

The panel will start at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Leelanau School dining hall. It features B.J. Christensen, Betty Bushey, Mike Moran and Maja LaForest of Move to Amend-Northern Michigan Chapter.
