Gladhander

TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools’ Gladhander Preview Night from 5:30-9 p.m. today, Oct. 25, at St. Francis School, 123 E. 11th St. Admission, hors d’oeuvres and beverages are free and visitors can bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a new car or cash.

Tree planting

TRAVERSE CITY — ReLeaf Michigan and the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will sponsor a tree planting today, Oct. 25, as part of the American Bar Association’s “One Million Tree Project.” Volunteers are welcome.

The 14 large trees will be planted along Cass Street from East Eighth to 13th street. A ceremony and planting demonstration will be held at the Old Town Playhouse, 148 E. Eighth St. The planting will take place from 9:30 a.m.-noon. For details about the project, visit www.ReLeafMichigan.org. ArtPrize art

ELK RAPIDS — Annie Crouter will visit Twisted Fish Gallery, 10443 S. Bayshore Dr., with “Polar Expressed,” her entry in and the second-place winner of ArtPrize 2013.

The series of three life-size acrylics of polar bears will be on display from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the gallery. Additional works by Crouter also will be on display and for sale, including glycees (prints) of her winning bears. Crouter’s art may be viewed at www.twistedfishart.com. Zombie Prom

NORTHPORT — Dress as the undead and help raise money for the Northport Arts Association at Zombie Prom on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The fundraiser will be held from 9:30-11 p.m. at Lelu Cafe and includes dancing, crowning of the court and a silent auction of “spooky” items. A painting portraying Zombie Prom by Tom Woodruff will be among the silent auction items.
