Author signs books

TRAVERSE CITY — P.J. Parrish will sign her books Saturday, March 2, at Horizon Books, 243, E. Front St.

Parrish is the New York Times bestselling author of 10 Louis Kincaid mystery novels. Her latest book featuring Kincaid is "Heart of Ice."

Pancake breakfast

MAPLE CITY — The Cedar/Maple City Lions will host a pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 3.

The meal will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lions Community Building, County Road 616. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.

History group meets

TRAVERSE CITY — Peninsula Township resident Ken Lardie will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, March 7, meeting of the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society.

Lardie will share stories about his family's five generations on Old Mission Peninsula at 7 p.m. at Peninsula Township Hall, 13235 Center Road. The public is welcome. For details, call 947-0947 or email

Humanitarian law intro

TRAVERSE CITY — The American Red Cross will offer a free four-hour introductory course focusing on the Geneva Convention and international humanitarian law.

"Humanity in the Midst of War" will meet from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Red Cross chapter office, 735 S. Garfield Ave., suite B100. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and discussion. For details or to sign up, call 947-7286, ext. 7410.
