TRAVERSE CITY — The Dunes Review literary journal will launch its spring 2013 issue with a celebration and reading today, April 6, at Brilliant Books, 118 E. Front St.

Trees all reserved

TRAVERSE CITY — The Conservation Resource Alliance has announced that all the trees available for its Friday, April 12, distribution have been reserved. No additional trees will be available that day and the waitlist also is full.

Beekeeping tips

ALDEN — Heather Miller will give a program for beginning beekeepers at the Alden District Library, 8751 Helena Road.

Stroke support

TRAVERSE CITY — Stroke survivor Lana Beaudoin will share how she took her physical challenges and modified her gift of music at the Wednesday, April 10 meeting of the Grand Traverse Bay Stroke Club.

Beaudoin will present “Stroke Recovery Through Music: Demonstration of a One-Handed Piano Playing Technique” at the 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. meeting at the Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. For details, call Melinda Hollands or Angela Leete, 935-6380.

Healing concert

TRAVERSE CITY — Alan Pederson will perform his “Angels Across the USA Tour 2013” on Wednesday, April 10, at Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington St.

Pedersen is a bereaved father, nationally recognized inspirational speaker on grief and loss, award-winning singer/songwriter, and successful recording artist. His only daughter, Ashley, was killed in an automobile accident in 2001.

The free program starts at 7:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Compassionate Friends Grand Traverse Chapter. It is open to the public, but is not suitable for young children.

‘Bitchin’ Babes’

TRAVERSE CITY — The Four Bitchin’ Babes bring their “Mid Life Vices ... A Guilt Free Musical Revue” to the Dennos Museum Center on Saturday, April 13.

The musical comedy quartet has a 20-plus year career on stage and in studio sharing their estrogen-infused comedy and award-winning songwriting with audiences. They have released nine recordings and a full-length concert DVD.

The celebration starts at 8 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium, 1410 College Dr. Tickets are $25 in advance, $28 at the door and $22 for museum members. This includes admission to the museum galleries one hour before the concert and a post-concert reception with the performers.

Support groups

CADILLAC — Healing Private Wounds will sponsor three support groups starting in April.

The “Grow Group,” a sexual abuse recovery support group, and the Teen Sexual Abuse Recovery Group both meet from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Thursday, April 11, at Cadillac United Methodist Church, 1020 E. Division. Both groups are free and confidential. The “Grow Group” will meet for 10 consecutive weeks. For details or to register, call or text 775-6804. Spring craft show

TRAVERSE CITY — A spring craft show at First Christian Church will offer something for everyone.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the church, 3686 S. Airport Road, beside Best Buy. Lunch will be available and there also will be baked goods, prize drawings and special music. Proceeds benefit missions.

Care center marks 25

TRAVERSE CITY — The Pregnancy Care Center is celebrating 25 years of providing services to northern Michigan families during April.

The medical clinic provides a limited obstetric ultrasound for the purposes of pregnancy confirmation for those who qualify.
