Wildflower walk

BELLAIRE — Wildflower docents at Grass River Natural Area will lead an upland forest wildflower walk today, July 2.

The walk from 10 a.m. to noon is free. Participants should meet at the Grass River Center, 6500 Alden Highway and are encouraged to bring a camera. To learn more, call 533-8314 or visit www.grassriver.org.

Bumper contest

FIM Group and the Traverse City Film Festival are sponsoring a 2013 Bumper Contest for aspiring filmmakers.

Submissions should be 20 to 60 seconds long, appropriate to screen before Traverse City Film Festival movies, and should have above-average production values. The top prize is $1,000 and all winning bumpers will be shown before feature films during the 2013 Traverse City Film Festival.

Equestrian events

TRAVERSE CITY — Horse Shows by the Bay celebrates its 10th anniversary with a five-week lineup of activities for all ages and interest levels.

Premier equestrian competition at Flintfields Horse Park starts Wednesday, July 3, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 4. Horse Shows will award more than $630,000 in total prize money throughout the festival. Additional Horse Show information is available by calling 267-3700 or at www.horseshowsbythebay.com.

Patriotic concert

CENTRAL LAKE — Three Bridges, an internationally acclaimed gospel trio from Nashville, Tenn., will give a patriotic concert on Thursday, July 4.

The free performance starts at 9 p.m. at the Central Lake Herrick Football Field and will be followed by Central Lake's fireworks. Attendees should bring their own seating.

The concert is sponsored by Belltower Reformed, Eastport Baptist, Ellsworth Christian Reformed, Ellsworth Wesleyan, First Congregational of Central Lake, and Grace Community churches. To learn more, call 599-2122.

Mountain top concert

GLEN ARBOR — The Williams Family Band will perform Sunday, July 7, atop the mountain at the Homestead Resort.
