Jigsaw Puzzle Sale

BENZONIA — The Friends of the Benzonia Public Library will hold a used jigsaw puzzle sale on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The sale will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the library on U.S. 31. Proceeds support the library. For details, call 882-4111.

Reunion postponed

TRAVERSE CITY — Because of low ticket sales, the Traverse City West Senior High School class of 2003 has postponed its 10-year reunion.

Originally scheduled for Sept. 21, the reunion now will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, from 6-10 p.m. at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. Tickets are $20 in advance or $30 at the door. For advance tickets, send checks payable to TC West Class Reunion, to 5412 N. Winthrop Ave. #1N, Chicago, IL 60640.

Navigation class

TRAVERSE CITY — The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 30, for a navigational charting class being offered by the Traverse City Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Coast Guard Air Station. Students will learn how to chart a boating course in West Grand Traverse Bay. Charts will be provided.

Botanic Gardens

TRAVERSE CITY — Three garden authors and designers will participate in a Tuesday, Oct. 1, “Evening with the Authors” to benefit construction of the Botanic Garden’s Walled Garden.

“Revolutionary Gardens: Past, Present and Future” starts at 7:30 p.m. at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St. Speakers include Warren Byrd, award-winning landscape architect and designer of Traverse City’s Historic Barns Park and Botanic Garden; Peter Hatch, author and plantsman who restored Thomas Jefferson’s gardens at Monticello; and Andrea Wulf, English author and design historian. They will share stories and backgrounds about their books, their gardens and their experiences.

Tickets are $20 each and available at or 941-8082.

Artist residency

EAST JORDAN — Applications are due Tuesday, Oct. 1, for the December 2013 to May 2014 artist residency season at Hill House.
