Chico’s helps WRC

Oryana events

TRAVERSE CITY — Events at Oryana include St. Patrick’s Day Demos and Samples through Sunday, March 17.

The St. Patrick’s Day-themed event includes the spring edition of Kids’ Cuisine from noon to 3 p.m. today, March 16, with a Lonnie the Leprechaun story time at 1 p.m. and a free organic shamrock cookie snack. A “Luck of the Irish” discount will be offered Sunday, March 17. Shoppers can draw a lucky shamrock to receive a discount of up to 5 percent off their total purchase.

Spring cleaning week is Sunday, March 17, through Saturday, March 23. There will be demonstrations, samples, educational information and special pricing on local and environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Learn how to color Easter Eggs using natural dyes in a demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

Sara Hardy Award

TRAVERSE CITY — Gladys Munoz will receive the Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award on Monday, March 18.

Munoz has worked as director of language and cultural diversity at Northwest Michigan Health Services, providing interpretation services. She also provides translation services for other human service agencies throughout the area.

The award will be presented in a ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Ave. A celebration will start at 6 p.m. in the second floor training room. The award recognizes Hardy’s contributions to the community by honoring an individual who exemplifies the Human Rights Commission’s ideals.
