Rocks & minerals

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Area Rock & Mineral Club will meet today, April 15, at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Don Reed will share highlights of the 2014 Tucson Rock & Mineral Show and members are encouraged to bring their best “find” to share. Visitors are welcome.


KALKASKA — Children are invited to build a boat during Lego-Rama from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Kalkaska County Library, 247 S. Cedar St. Call 258-9411 to learn more.

Piano recital

INTERLOCHEN — Michael Coonrod, piano faculty member at Interlochen Center for the Arts, will give a solo classical piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Dendrinos Chapel/Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Weather spotters

BEULAH — National Weather Service staff members will offer Severe Weather Spotter and Safety Training at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Benzie County Government Center, 448 Court Place. The training is free and open to the public.

CMU info night

TRAVERSE CITY — Central Michigan University in Traverse City will hold a Master of Public Administration Information Night from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Northwestern Michigan College University Center, Dendrinos Drive off Cass Road. Department staff will be available to answer questions about the program. Call 995-1756 to learn more.

Holy Week

TRAVERSE CITY — Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr., continues its Lenten journey with services leading up to Easter Sunday.

A Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, will celebrate the Lord’s Last Supper. A Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, includes s stripping of the altar to signify the day’s events.

An Easter Vigil worship will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, and Easter services on Sunday, April 20, start at 8 and 10:30 a.m., with an Easter breakfast served at 9:15 a.m.
