GT Dems meet

TRAVERSE CITY — All Democrats are invited to the Thursday, April 4, meeting of the Grand Traverse Democratic Executive Board.

Benefit show

TRAVERSE CITY — SEEDS School of Rock will present a concert to benefit Bob Russell, Sally Van Vleck and the Neahtawanta Inn.

Some of the area’s up and coming young musicians will perform with Graham Parsons & the Go Rounds from Kalamazoo at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Good Work Collective, 417 S. Union St. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Roller derby b’day

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Roller Derby will host its annual Birthday Bash and Silent Auction on Friday, April 5.

The celebration starts at 6 p.m. at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. A highlight of the event is the screening of the new documentary “Becoming a Derby Girl” at 7:30 p.m. There also will be appetizers and music by DJ Sweet & Low and DJ Jr., a cash bar and a silent auction. Guests are asked to make a cash donation of $5 for AC Paw or donate an item from the AC Paw wish list, found at

Can you fly?

MANISTEE — The Manistee Civic Players will hold auditions at the Ramsdell Theatre, 101 Maple St., for its summer production of “Peter Pan.”

Auditions will be held 7-10 p.m. Saturday, April 6, for adults older than 15 in the Ramsdell Ballroom; and Sunday, April 7, 2-5 p.m. for children ages 6-14, and 7-10 p.m. for adults older than 15 on the Ramsdell stage. Call backs, if necessary, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, April 8. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script, learn a simple dance number and a group song.
