Alumni Art Show opens
TRAVERSE CITY — Alumni of Northwestern Michigan College’s Art Department will display their art in a “Three Decades of Art of NMC” exhibit.
The show opens today, March 29, at the Traverse City Art and Design Studio, 1207-C Woodmere Ave., and continues through May 31. A special event for the public will be hosted from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 25. The exhibit features works by more than 30 former NMC art students.
Lovett Foundation grants are due
BEULAH — Applications are due Tuesday, April 1, for Father Lovett Foundation grants.
The Foundation provides funds to qualified beneficiaries for charitable and educational needs that are beyond the scope of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beulah. Applications are available by contacting St. Philip’s Church, 882-4506.
TRAVERSE CITY — The Lenten Luncheon series, sponsored by Church Women and Men United, continues on Thursday, April 3.
The public is invited to a soup, sandwich and dessert meal at 11:30 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. Music will follow at noon and the Rev. Mary Brown of Grawn United Methodist Church will reflect on the theme “God’s Sacrificial Gift of Love” at 12:30 p.m. A $3 donation is suggested to support local missions. Attendees also are encouraged to bring signed Easter cards to go to local wounded veterans.
Christian music concert
ACME — The Allthemore Concert, named for the four-musician band Allthemore from the Traverse City area, will be held Saturday, April 5, at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.
The doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. concert, which will also feature Artisan Ocean from Cadillac, and Drew Hale and Adam Dennis from Traverse City. Allthemore also will release their new EP titled “The Wake Up Call.”

Bowl decorating workshop
TRAVERSE CITY — Area artists and community members of all ages are invited to an Empty Bowls’ community workshop.
The workshop will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Traverse City Senior Center, 801 E. Front St. Participants will create handcrafted bowls to be used at the April 13 Empty Bowls event. All materials will be provided compliments of Life Story Funeral Home. Registration is required; call 922-4911.
