Camera Club to meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Area Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m., today, March 20, at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster Dr.

Awards will be presented to winners of the student photo contest followed by club member, Helen Denoyer, speaking about her photography.

Guest performers join Haas duo

TRAVERSE CITY — Trumpeter Dan Jacobs and saxophonist Patrick Booth will make an appearance at Jazz at the Cambria today, March 20.

They will join Haas Trio’s Jack Dryden on bass and Randy Marsh on drums and harmonica to perform from 7-9:15 p.m. in the Cambria’s Reflect Bistro and Lounge, 255 Munson Ave. There is no cover charge. Call 778-9000 to learn more.

Dance performance

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northwestern Michigan College Dance Department will present a performance titled “Destinations: A Choreographic Journey.”

The show explores the theme of destinations through solo dance forms by current NMC dance students and dance alumni. Other highlights include the NMC hip hop class and a pre-show of hoop dancing and improvisations.

The performance starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 23, in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. General admission tickets are $8 for adults; free for children 12 and younger. They are available at the Milliken Auditorium box office, online at or by calling 995-1553.

Newcomers to meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The community is invited to the Tuesday, March 25, meeting of the Newcomers Club of Grand Traverse.

The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. Local photographer John Robert Williams, a co-founder of the Traverse City Film Festival, will discuss the festival’s history and vision for the future. For details, visit

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County Resource Recovery Department (RecycleSmart) will hold a household hazardous waste and pesticide collection from 1-6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 27, by appointment.
