Stewardship Series

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Conservation District’s Community Stewardship Series continues on Saturday, March 15.

“Why Water Quality Matters” will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road. It will focus on water quality issues in the Grand Traverse region. Attendees are welcome to bring in a well water sample for free testing.

The program is $5 and all ages are welcome. Registration is required; visit www.natureiscalling.org.

Successful Aging

TRAVERSE CITY — Dave Eitland, development and gift planning director of Grand Traverse Pavilions, and Cathy Shoemaker, senior tax manager with Rehmann in Traverse City, are the guest speakers at the next Successful Aging Series program.

Genealogy group

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society will meet on Thursday, March 20.

The meeting and program start at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Veterans Drive. The topic is what’s new at the Family History Library and using familysearch.org, ancestry.com and myheritage.com. The public and guests are welcome.

Soul man Dee

TRAVERSE CITY — Boston’s Jesse Dee will perform Saturday, March 22, in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr.

Singer/songwriter Dee is described as a modern day trailblazer inspired by the old school. He won the 2010 Boston Phoenix Music Poll Award for Best R&B Act, both for the strength of his live show and his 2008 debut CD “Bittersweet Batch.”
