Art lecture

TRAVERSE CITY — Artcenter Traverse City’s “What Is Art, Anyway” lecture series continues on Wednesday, March 12.

The lecture, titled “Two Unique Educators,” will start at 7 p.m. at The Box, 425 Boardman Ave. Host Ron Jolly will facilitate a discussion with Dave Parrish and Lyn Salathiel, who started working together as local high school teachers and collaborated to present history, social science and language arts topics through both art and music. They are now featured in Northwestern Michigan College’s Lifelong Learning Series.

‘Sip & Sketch’

TRAVERSE CITY — The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College and the NMC Art Club will host a “Sip & Sketch” event on Thursday, March 13.

The public is invited into the galleries from 6-8 p.m. to draw, socialize and learn about art. Stools, clipboards, pencils and 8.5 by 11 inch paper will be available. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own materials, which are limited to pencil, kneaded eraser and paper or sketchbook no larger than 11 x 14 inches. Coffee and refreshments will be available in the classroom area.

DKG luncheon

TRAVERSE CITY — All current and retired area educators are invited to the spring luncheon and social gathering of the Delta Kappa Gamma Traverse City Phi Chapter.
