TRAVERSE CITY — Old Town Playhouse is holding auditions today, Feb. 3, and Tuesday, Feb. 4, for the next Studio Theatre production, “A Steady Rain” by Keith Huff.
Auditions start at 7 p.m. each night in the Schmuckal Theatre at the Old Town Playhouse, 148 E. Eighth St. There are roles for two men and actors must be at least 18 years old. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script and should be familiar with the production.

Preschool open house
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Cooperative Preschool, 720 S. Elmwood Ave., will host an open house on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

High School Fair
TRAVERSE CITY — The Pathfinder School will host a free “High School 101” high school fair for local eighth-grade students.
The fair will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at The Pathfinder School, 11930 S. West Bay Shore Dr. Representatives from many of the region’s public and private schools will be on hand with information about their programs, schedules for shadow days on their campuses, and samples of extra-curricular activities.

‘Off the Wall’ film
ALDEN — The next film in the “Off the Wall” Movie Night series is the 2012 Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film.
“Amour,” rated PG-13, will be shown in French with subtitles at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road. TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Academy will hold enrollment information meetings for the 2014-15 school year.
Meetings start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the school, 1245 Hammond Road. Additional meetings will be held in February and March.
Open enrollment for the tuition-free, public charter school is under way and continues through March 21. Quilt show opens
TRAVERSE CITY — A reception on Friday, Feb. 7, will open an Invitational Art and Traditional Quilt Works show.
More than 40 works by 15 fiber and textile artists from Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Manistee counties will be on display through March 4 in the Mercato at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons near Notably Natural, suite 25. The show includes both art quilts and traditional quilts.

TRAVERSE CITY — A launch party will be hosted Sunday, Feb. 9, for the new, locally produced cooking show “Party in the Pantry.”
The party will be held from 6-9 p.m. at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. The premiere of the first episode starts at 7 p.m. and will be followed by tastings. There also will be music by Levi Britton, The Accidentals, Blake Elliott, Eminor and others.

EASTPORT — The Wilkinson Homestead Historical Society is taking orders for its 10th annual geranium planter sale.
Orders for 12-inch zonal geranium planters as well as individual five-inch plants in four colors will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 28. Pick-up will be May 24 at the Eastport Baptist Church.

Family Fun Night
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Bay Sunrise Rotary Club will host a Family Fun Night to benefit the BackPacks for Kids project.
The fundraiser will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Bayview Wesleyan Church, 720 Wayne St., with a spaghetti dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Other activities are basketball, board games, arts and crafts, a silent auction and music by the NMC Children’s Lyric Choir.
Tickets are $6 each or $25 per family at the door. Proceeds will be used to equip backpacks with school supplies for students in need in Grand Traverse County.
BEULAH — The Friends of the Darcy Library will hold a cookie sale in partnership with the Beulah-Benzonia WinterFest.
Sale hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Betsie Valley Trailhead Building. Cookies are $6 per pound and proceeds support activities at the library.
