Holiday bazaar

Traverse City — Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church's "Christmas on the Peninsula" old-fashioned bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the church, 16426 Center Road. Lunch will be available. For details, call 223-4393.

Grow Benzie

THOMPSONVILLE — Diane Wilbur will present a program on Grow Benzie's history and mission as a community nonprofit farmstead during a meeting Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Betsie Valley District Library in Thompsonville.

Program today

ACME — Hope Village is sponsoring a free program today, Nov. 13, on protecting yourself from scams and identity theft.

"Keeping Your Financial Information Secure" will be presented by Brenda Majestic of Northwestern Bank from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Hope Village Activity Room. Seating is limited. Call 938-2505 to RSVP.

Art for Animals

TRAVERSE CITY — Original art work by Pathfinder School students is on display at The Silver Swan for perusal in advance of a silent auction coming up Sunday, Nov. 18, to benefit the Cherryland Humane Society.

The auction is open to the public. With food and refreshments, it runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Silver Swan, 13692 South West Bay Shore Drive.

Scandinavian lunch

Frankfort — Trinity Lutheran Church's annual Scandinavian Luncheon and Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 17, will usher in the holiday season.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church, 955 James St. Lunch guests will be seated by church members in traditional Scandinavian dress for a meal of traditional Scandinavian dishes. Adult meals are $12 each; $6 for ages 11 and younger. Take-outs will be available.

The bazaar will feature wheat ornaments, woven paper hearts, the art of Rosemaling on handmade ornaments and other wooden treasures including newly crafted cribbage boards. There also will be a bake sale and a used book sale.

Garden club meets

Acme — Matthew Bertrand from the Grand Traverse Conservation District will be the guest speaker at the Tuesday, Nov. 20, meeting of the Sweetwater Evening Garden Club.

Bertrand's program, titled "Looking Beyond the Landscape with our Birds, Butterflies and Wild Creatures," will start at 7 p.m. at the East Bay Masonic Lodge. The public is welcome.
